Dr. Martyn Potter
Dr. Potter graduated from Veterinary school at Massey University in New Zealand. He practiced in both the UK and New Zealand before coming to Canada, and has been active in Ontario for over 30 years. Dr. Potter completed a large animal surgical residency at the Ontario Veterinary College, as a professor, before switching roles to private practice full time. Dr. Potter is also the owner of the PotterVet Equine Services in Schomberg, ON.
Dr. Cinthia Mak
Dr Cinthia Mak graduated from Veterinary School in Australia. After completing her education she went to work in Hong Kong for three years. Dr Mak chose to move to Vancouver at the birth of her Niece and Nephew, where she practiced Vet Medicine for 2 years. When she met her husband they made the move to Ontario. We are very grateful that Dr Mak chose to come work with us when she moved here in May 2017. Dr Mak has special interest in internal medicine and clinical pathology. When not working she spends time with her three cats, bunny and two dogs.
Technicians (Veterinary Nurse):
Katrina (Manager and VT): Katrina graduated the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College. She worked as Manager and Veterinary Technician at a clinic in the Durham region for four years before she joined us in February 2017. Also she has some experience working with exotic animals, having worked at Bowmanville Zoo for a year. Katrina enjoys Western Horseback Riding. When not at work Katrina likes to go Camping and Fishing. She also spends her time with her family and pets. Katrina has four cats, a chinchilla and a crested gecko. Katrina became a certified Animal Reiki Practitioner in January 25, 2017.
Lisa (RVT): Lisa graduated the Veterinary Technician program at University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus. She wrote her VTNE exam right after graduation. Lisa has worked at various clinics from Northern to Southern Ontario. Also Lisa has extensive experience working with horses. Lisa has a Certificate of Equine and Canine Massage Therapy. She also enjoys studying Human psychology and obtained a Certificate in Professional Counselling Skills, as well as a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. Newmarket Animal Hospital is grateful for Lisa's skills in grief support, and pet loss as we consider this an asset for our clients. When not working she spends her time with her Horse Okey, and her rescue dogs Richard, Casha, and Jake.
Front End Staff:
Jessica is a graduate of the Animal Care program at Durham College. As a Veterinary Assistant Jessica is one of the first smiling faces you see when you come into our facility. Jessica has an interest in surgery and patient care. Jessica enjoys snowboarding, photography and snuggling with her kitties in her free time.
Emily L (VA): Emily L is back with us for one year! Emily has completed her programs at Guelph University and is applying to Veterinary Schools. When not being a smiling face at the front desk Emily is snuggling her cat, bunny and birds.
